The flamenco show was phenomenal! All the dancers and singers were very talented. It was great to see and hear some traditional dancing and music. The venue is also beautifully decorated in a traditional style. Definitely don't miss a flamenco show if you're in Spain. Plus, the food was really good, and all the waiters were nice, too. Highly recommended show!

WHAT IS FLAMENCO?
Flamenco songs incorporate humor and themes of love and the countryside. They also include profound emotion and themes of despair, death, and religious doubt. Flamenco is associated with the Roma (Gypsies or Gitanos) from Andalusia, in southern Spain. Migrants from Rajasthan, India, brought their music and dances to Spain between the 9th and 14th centuries. They also brought tambourines, bells, and castanets. They met Sephardic Jews and Moors in Spain, and the combination of their cultures produced flamenco.
VENUE INSPIRED BY THE ALHAMBRA
The show is performed at the Torres Bermejas tablao, the 'Cathedral of Flamenco,' which opened in 1960. 'Tablao' is a Spanish word, meaning "flamenco venue". The interiors of the venue were inspired by the Bermejas towers of the Alhambra in Granada. The walls are filled with Arabic motifs, reminding us of Spain's Arab influence. The interiors feature decorated tiles and wood-carved ceilings, adding the final touch to a stunning flamenco show.

Interesting facts about flamenco
- There are different types of songs in flamenco. One of them is the "alboreás". It is only performed at weddings, as it is considered to be unlucky at other times.
- In the 19th century, flamenco songs started to be performed with a guitar, too.
- At the same time, the performance was also accompanied by "a palo seco", meaning "dry stick". Someone would hit the floor with a stick to keep time.
