This place is huge! And so much to visit. We wandered around for ages. There’s the Royal Armoury, which my sons loved. There's the beautiful Hall of Mirrors (that one was more for me), banquet halls…you name it. The entire place felt very opulent and kingly. It reminded me of Versailles a little bit actually. I’m also very glad that the ticket lasts the entire day. We got audio guides and ended up staying longer than intended. The stories on those audio guides were super interesting!
We really did enter the Royal Palace right away thanks to these skip-the-line tickets. Everything was smooth and we cleared security in a heartbeat. Very grateful, since it was an unusually hot May day and the line was long. The palace was great. Very interesting exhibits, just gorgeous artwork, the architecture super lavish. Afterwards we visited the Gallery of Royal Collections next door. Between the two, I’d pick the Royal Palace.

WANDER THROUGH THE ROOMS WHERE ROYALTY ONCE LIVED
The Royal Palace of Madrid was the residence of the Spanish monarchy for two centuries. It’s also the largest royal palace in Europe! The building is full of beautiful architecture and fine decorations. You’ll love exploring it. Visit the throne room, where you’ll see the impressive seat flanked by four Medici lions. It’s also worth seeing the banqueting halls. There you'll find three gorgeous frescoes painted on the ceiling. Finally, King Charles III's Apartments are a must. These lavish rooms contain four family portrait paintings by Goya.
WALK AROUND THE ROYAL ARMOURY AND THE HALL OF MIRRORS
With these Royal Palace Madrid tickets, you can also access the Royal Armoury and Hall of Mirrors. The former is considered one of the best armouries in the world, hosting pieces as old as the 13th century. Among the most notable pieces, however, are the full tools and armour of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and Philip II. The Hall of Mirrors was originally a dressing room for Maria Luisa of Parma. However, Tomás de Castro outfitted it with symbolic artwork that is reflected in the mirrors. The overall effect is hypnotising and very immersive.
ENJOY ARTISTIC MASTERPIECES
As the official royal residence, the palace is full of gorgeous artwork. You’ll find works by masters like Francisco Goya, Diego Velázquez, Hieronymus Bosch, and more. For example, make sure to see Goya’s The Boar Hunt. It’s the artist’s earliest surviving tapestry cartoon. Bosch’s Christ Carrying the Cross is another must-see. It shows a famous scene from the Catholic tradition. Besides paintings, the frescoes are also beautiful, such as Tiepolo’s Venus and Vulcan fresco in the King’s apartments.
