Wine tours are some of my favorite travel activities, and this one did not disappoint. The wine selection is huge. You can try out 5 different grape varieties, and each wine tasting is served with tapas. Personally, I recommend the Petit Verdot. Our guide Sergio was amazing, and took a lot of time to explain the full story behind each wine. I really appreciated that!
The Madrid Wine Tour was a nice way to see something else and not just stay in the city the entire time. I also really liked that you visit the two towns in addition to the wine experiences. With most tasting tours, you just hang out on a ranch all day lol. Here we go to sightsee a little, and drink some delicious wines! The tapas were also delicious. Both activities were so much fun. My mom especially had a great time, and that’s all I can ask for.

STROLL THROUGH TRADITIONAL CHINCHÓN
Unlike typical wine tasting day tours, you’ll also visit some nearby towns. Your first stop is Chinchón, a traditional village founded in the 11th century. Explore the cobblestone streets and medieval buildings, and listen to your guide. As you walk, they'll teach you about the town’s history. Did you know that Plaza Mayor was used for bullfights, royal festivals, theatre shows, and countless other activities. It was first constructed in the 15th century!
EXPLORE THE CITY OF ARANJUEZ
After Chinchón, your next stop is Aranjuez, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This historical city was one of the Royal Estates of Spain’s monarchy. Until 1752, only nobility and royalty were allowed to reside in the city! Your guide will take you to the city’s Royal Palace, one of the monarchy’s four seasonal seats of the court. This majestic Renaissance structure was originally a hunting lodge, but later became a palace. It’s surrounded on all sides by vibrant gardens, which your guide will also take you through.
TOUR A TRADITIONAL WINERY
Your last stop is the winery. We’ll take you to Finca El Regajal, an organic winery covering over 14 hectares of vineyards! The winery cultivates various artisanal wines. Choose from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, and Tempranillo. All the wines are cultivated using only biodynamic, environmentally-friendly practices. They’re also all aged in French oak barrels. You’ll taste premium-quality wine. You’ll be served traditional Spanish tapas alongside the wine. The small bites are expertly paired with the wine, guaranteeing a delicious experience.

Do you know that Madrid has its own protected wine region?
It’s called “Vinos de Madrid”. Located south of Madrid, it’s divided into three sub-zones: Arganda, Navalcarnero, and San Martín. Each produces different types of wine. However, Arganda is definitely the largest, and contains about 50% of the vines. All three sub-zones mostly produce the red wine Garnacha (Grenache). Other popular red varieties include Graciano, Merlot, Tempranillo, and more. All the reds are mostly dry, and characterized by deep, intense Spanish notes. When it comes to white wine, Malvar and Albillo are the main varieties. They have a smooth texture and fruity flavour, and are moderately acidic. All in all, the wines from Vinos de Madrid are sold in 51 wineries, with 110 wine brands.
