My mother is in her 80s, and I wanted her to see Madrid without straining herself too much. This tuk tuk tour of Madrid was perfect. She didn’t have to walk, and still got to see most of the city. Plus, it was nice to be outside and feel the breeze while sightseeing. Our guide Fernando also made the experience special. He really took care of her and made sure she heard everything he was saying. Also, he took pictures of us in front of the cathedral.
This Madrid tour was an amazing introduction to the city. You ride around for an hour and really get a feel for the city and see what’s where. It’s a great way to kind of pin down what you want to visit in the next few days. We immediately knew we’d come back to Retiro Park, for example. We also re-visited the Royal Palace a few days later. It’s also really nice that you get the tuk tuk all to yourself - super relaxing!

PRO TIP:
SEE MADRID’S ICONIC LANDMARKS
The Tuk Tuk Tour Madrid will take you past the city’s most recognizable attractions. For example, you’ll see the Almudena Cathedral - a huge, white Neo-Classical church. The cathedral was consecrated by Pope John Paul II himself! Right across from it, you’ll find the Royal Palace. At 135,000 m2, it’s the largest royal palace in Europe, and today is used for state ceremonies. You’ll also visit the nearby Plaza Mayor, a large square which used to be the center of Old Madrid.
DRIVE THROUGH PICTURESQUE NEIGHBORHOODS
Get a feel for day-to-day living in Madrid as you explore the city’s most vibrant districts. You’ll discover Las Letras - or the “Literary Quarter”. This is where great writers like Miguel de Cervantes, Quevedo, and Lope de Vega used to live. In fact, today their houses function as museums. You’ll also explore the Retiro district, famous for Retiro Park. The park is 1.4 km² in size, and even has an artificial lake! As you circle the green, you’ll also see the 16th-century Church of Los Jerónimos. Historically, it has always been the site of investiture for the Prince of Spain.
VIEW THE CULTURAL AND POLITICAL MONUMENTS OF MADRID
As you drive, your guide will point out Madrid’s important historical landmarks. You’ll see the Palacio de las Cortes - the building housing one of the Spanish Parliament’s two chambers. It’s considered a masterpiece of Spanish neoclassicism. Close by, you’ll drive down the Paseo del Prado, one of Madrid’s widest boulevards. Nearby is another important structural landmark: Puerta de Alcalá. This gigantic Neo-classical gate is situated on the Plaza de la Independencia.
After seeing so many of Madrid’s highlights from the outside, you’ll likely want to step inside and explore some of them in more detail. That’s why we recommend booking your Prado Museum tour and Royal Palace of Madrid tour in advance — these popular attractions can get busy, and early reservations help you save time and skip the lines.
