Amazing tour guide!

Our tour of the Prado Museum was excellent, and so was our guide. She was very fun and it was a pleasure to be around. She describes various forms of art with enthusiasm and clarity. She was very knowledgeable and picked an interesting selection of paintings giving lots of context and explanation. Definitely worth the extra money vs. wandering around on my own. She made us all smile, answered all questions, and we truly had a wonderful tour at the Museum.

10/10 would recommend!

My guide Rosio was incredible. She had extensive knowledge of the paintings, the painters and the time periods. She made paintings come alive with her animated storytelling. After the guided tour, you can visit the rest of the museum to see more paintings. Also, I’ve visited museums all over the world and this was one of the best guided tours I’ve ever been on, and we would definitely book it again.

The Prado Museum is famous for its exceptional collection of European art from the 12th to the early 20th century. This must-visit destination for art enthusiasts offers a comprehensive compilation of Spanish art, especially the 19th-century collection. Since its establishment in 1819, the Prado has continuously expanded its collection. Its grandeur was enhanced by the addition of various pavilions between 1900 and 1960, and most recently by the significant modern expansion designed by Rafael Moneo, completed in 2007.

Accompanied by a knowledgeable tour guide, you'll be able to witness the works of celebrated masters like Francisco Goya, Hieronymus Bosch, El Greco, and Peter Paul Rubens. Uncover hidden treasures in every painting and see the details you're most likely to miss while exploring on your own. After witnessing the evolution and influence of diverse artistic styles over the centuries, you'll exit the museum with an even greater art appreciation.

Those seeking a multisensory experience can opt for a Tapas Tasting Experience right after the tour's conclusion. FAQ – Prado Museum Tour

How long is the Prado Museum tour?

The length of a Prado Museum Tour can vary depending on the option selected. Most museum-guided tours last from 1.5 to 2 hours, but it also depends on whether it's small group or a private tour, as well as how in-depth you wish to explore. Some specialized tours can last even longer, ranging from 2-3 hours. These tours give you detailed exploration of the museum's extensive collection. So if you have a specific preference, we suggest you inform your tour guide before checking if the tour option suits your wishes.

Do you need to book tickets for Prado museum?

Yes, booking tickets for the Prado Art Museum in advance is highly recommended, especially during peak tourist seasons. The museum is one of the most popular attractions in Madrid and can get very crowded, leading to long queues at the ticket counters. We suggest purchasing tickets online in advance to avoid waiting in line and ensure your entry to the museum. Also, if you want to explore the museum more in-depth, we advise you to book a guided tour with skip the line entrance. Once you're done exploring Prado Museum, consider booking a Royal Palace Guided Tour or Reina Sofia Tickets, as they both have a vast art collection worth seeing.

Is a Prado Museum Tour worth it?

Even if you're just a little interested in art, booking a guided tour is a must! With a tour guide by your side, you can get a deeper understanding and appreciation for art in general. Once you get familiar with the technique and various details carefully observed, you'll fall in love even more. If you visit Madrid, this is one of the cultural highlights you shouldn’t miss.

What famous pieces are in Prado Museum?

Prado Museum is home to countless masterpieces, but three stand out. "Las Meninas" by Velázquez is a must-see, often called one of the greatest works in Western art. "The Garden of Earthly Delights" by Bosch is a surreal triptych showing paradise, earthly pleasures, and hell. And "The Third of May 1808" by Goya powerfully depicts the execution of Spanish civilians during the Peninsular War.

What else is there to see and do in Madrid?

Madrid is full of amazing experiences beyond the usual sights. Explore more of the top Madrid tourist attractions, or enjoy a more personal private tour of Madrid to discover hidden corners and local stories. If you're into food and drink, the Madrid Wine Experience is a great way to taste local wines and visit nearby wineries. Sports fans shouldn’t miss the legendary Santiago Bernabéu Stadium tours. And if you have a bit more time, we highly recommend one of the day trips from Madrid, such as a Toledo from Madrid day trip or a Segovia tour from Madrid – both offer stunning sights and a deeper look into Spanish history and culture.
